Does music inspire you? Do you like to go to your edge? Are you the type of person who doesn’t take him or herself too seriously and likes to laugh often? April’s class may be the perfect place for you to practice. She doesn’t think the mat is the only place to practice yoga. What you learn on the mat gets carried off the mat and into the fabric of your life. Take your yoga off the mat and be the best version of you possible. With her professional dance background, come prepared to challenge your brain as well as your body with intelligent & creative sequencing. There is a deliberate and gradual build up in her classes that prepares you to reach your full potential by the end of each class. You will leave class invigorated, inspired and wanting more. The first half of class will kick your butt and the second half will kiss it. 90 minutes never went by so fast.
Stephen took his first yoga class in May 1999 with the intention of finding a method of exercise that was enjoyable to him. What he got was a lesson, not only in physical exercise, but also in intention, self inspection and what it’s like to be in the absolute moment. The lesson has never ended. All of Stephen’s classes are taught from the heart where individuals can begin to see the pure joy in their yoga practice. He believes all students have talent and can find a yoga home in any modality. His classes can be challenging, humorous, and are always filled with gratitude. His students have become his greatest teacher.
The inspiration for Lisa's classes comes from her love of the ocean. She finds that yoga has a remarkable similarity to the time she spends in the ocean on a surf board - peaceful, serene yet physically challenged. She enjoys the sensory pleasures in life - food, music - so expect to find some interesting music choices in her classes. Plan to feel deeply, experience fully and sweat entirely.
Gretchen is one of Yoga Central’s original members and quite possibly the biggest fan of our studio and it’s yoga community. Yoga has been an awesome journey into peace, joy and positivity for Gretchen so she feels compelled to pay it forward. Her goal is for her students to experience some of these wonderful attributes of a yoga practice and to keep coming back for more. She is a mother of four awesome children and now a new grandma. Her new grandbaby will no doubt be her inspiration as a teacher and a continual student of yoga and life.
As a writer, the language of yoga is not that different from words written on a page. It’s a creative expression- filled sensation that can be translated a million different ways. Karen took a leap into that world in 2007, when she fell in love with yoga and then in 2008 when she started her own business as a writer. With volumes of experience living all over the world from Argentina to Australia, there’s a great patience and adaptability in her teaching style. She likes to tailor her classes to the individual strengths of her students and hopes to instill a sense of confidence that makes them excited about taking their next class. Karen is a graduate of the Yoga Central Teacher Training Program but is a student at heart every single day.
Lynn Marie’s journey to yoga began with a serendipitous conversation in Hawaii, where she realized that sharing the gift of yoga was her true passion. Being physically fit has always been a part of her life and while she enjoyed the physical benefits as an aerobics instructor and runner, nothing has influenced her life more profoundly than yoga. Practicing and teaching Yoga allows Lynn Marie to share her passion and belief that Yoga is a means to a positive and balanced energy; a dedicated practice nurtures the heart, strengthens the body, and calms the mind. Students can expect classes that are a blend of joyful energy, breath, and strength building poses with attention to alignment.
